Being locked out is miserable, and it always happens at the worst possible time. It is also the moment people get taken advantage of, because you are standing outside, you want it over with, and you will agree to almost anything.
So here is how I work. You ring me and tell me what has happened. I tell you what it will cost before I set off, and that is the price you pay. I come out, and in most cases I can open the door without damaging your lock at all, which means you are not paying for a replacement on top.
If it turns out the job is different from what we agreed on the phone, I stop and tell you the new price before I carry on. You can say no, and I will leave, and you will not owe me anything.
You probably need this if
- You have shut the door behind you with the keys inside
- You have lost your keys or had them stolen
- The key turns but the door will not open
- You have moved in and the previous owner still has keys
- A tenant has left without returning the keys
What happens
- Ring me and tell me the address, the type of door and what has happened
- I give you a price before I set off
- I open the door, using non-destructive methods wherever the lock allows it
- If anything needs replacing, I tell you the cost before I do it
- You pay the price we agreed, not a penny more
